Understory at the Amazon Spheres.
The Spheres is the latest addition to Amazon’s downtown Seattle headquarters. The innovative building offers employees a work environment that is part conservatory part office. To explain this groundbreaking new building to the public, Amazon decided to create a visitor center at The Spheres, aptly named ‘Understory’.
The team for this project included Graham Baba Architects, Studio Matthews (exhibit design) and Belle and Wissell (Media experience designers). Together we conceived of a multi-layered visitor experience that combined a central immersive video tour of the spheres with modular table-top exhibits, each dedicated to a particular topic: Architecture, Buidling infrastructure, Amazon’s approach to town planning, the plant collection and the big idea behind the Spheres.
